Au Coin du Feu

okay, this post is way late.... but, like the saying goes - better late than never.
so, after the drinking and dancing friday night, waking up at 9am the next day and sleeping the whole afternoon. horacio made reservations for dinner at au coin du feu at 8pm. it was our first time to try french cuisine (aside from having french fries and french toast! hehehe, i know.. corny...).
au coin du feu is a really nice and romantic place. when we got there i was kinda disappointed to see this two people sitting by the window just having wine (i think it was their first date, or maybe they were just friends...). i wanted to sit by the window, but it took them forever to finish their wine. anywhooracio and i settled at the table next to it.
after debating whether to have red or white wine, since we planned on ordering pork and duck (does the rule red wine is for meat and white is for fish apply??). so, we decided to just ask our server what he thinks and says that i was right (since horacio specifically told him that i said it), but recommended the white wine instead.
we started off with appetizer we had the goat cheese wrapped in honey glazed bacon. it was a melt-in-your-mouth experience. it was really, really, really, good. bad thing about having good food is that they serve it to you in tiny servings! lol but, if you were to eat at this place we highly recommend that you have this for appetizer, entree and dessert! lol. as for our entree, i had the seared duck in fruits and horacio had the pork filet mignon. the duck was so tender and deliciously fruity. the pork filet mignon (i know.. filet mignon is beef, right? but yeah, that's how they described it), horacio devoured it. i tried it, it was good but a little too cheesy for me (and if you know me, you know how i am with cheese). we had apples in rum flambe with vanilla ice cream and cafe veniero. i was so surprised when it came with a candle... horacio was so slick in telling the server about this.
one of the greatest thing that night was the service. our experience at iguana? total opposite. the food came out on time, he made sure that everything was ok. to think of it... there was only one server for that night. although it was a quarter of iguana's place, still. we had like at least four servers at iguana, and we had to ask for our water!
i highly recommend anyone to dine at au coin du feu. although they are moving to a bigger place and would be changing the menu a bit. after hearing people inquiring about the move and how much they would recommend clients to this place and these people actually have been there a couple of times! it was very personal and really, really great experience.
when dinner was over, we walked around broadway. the weather was so perfect, it was not too chilly nor too warm, it was just perfect for walking around.
it was the perfect night with the greatest boyfriend.
i'm so happy.
