it's official...

We headed out early morning yesterday to Cadman Plaza in Brooklyn to swear in... my brother and I are now citizens of the United States.

Although it took all morning, what could have been a two-hour thing. We left the courthouse pledging our allegiance to the flag of the United States. There were about two hundred people in that courthouse. For some, we wondered how they were able to obtain or pass their interviews since they couldn't even speak or understand English. Some people were answering "yes" to questions that doesn't apply to them. It's just weird... the immigration made it sound like a big deal that you have to be able to read, speak and write English to be able to pass the interview... yet...

So much for that... me, mom and my bro went to our old neighborhood to pick up mom's car. It took us about an hour to get there... the neighborhood still looks the same, same crowd. Memories came flooding back and quickly we had to get out.

What we did to celebrate the day being a citizens? We had lunch at a Filipino restaurant, Horacio and I called in sick from work, ate a lot of junk food, watched Music and Lyrics. :) It was a great way to spend the day. :)
