Au Coin du Feu

okay, this post is way late.... but, like the saying goes - better late than never.
so, after the drinking and dancing friday night, waking up at 9am the next day and sleeping the whole afternoon. horacio made reservations for dinner at au coin du feu at 8pm. it was our first time to try french cuisine (aside from having french fries and french toast! hehehe, i know.. corny...).
au coin du feu is a really nice and romantic place. when we got there i was kinda disappointed to see this two people sitting by the window just having wine (i think it was their first date, or maybe they were just friends...). i wanted to sit by the window, but it took them forever to finish their wine. anywhooracio and i settled at the table next to it.
after debating whether to have red or white wine, since we planned on ordering pork and duck (does the rule red wine is for meat and white is for fish apply??). so, we decided to just ask our server what he thinks and says that i was right (since horacio specifically told him that i said it), but recommended the white wine instead.
we started off with appetizer we had the goat cheese wrapped in honey glazed bacon. it was a melt-in-your-mouth experience. it was really, really, really, good. bad thing about having good food is that they serve it to you in tiny servings! lol but, if you were to eat at this place we highly recommend that you have this for appetizer, entree and dessert! lol. as for our entree, i had the seared duck in fruits and horacio had the pork filet mignon. the duck was so tender and deliciously fruity. the pork filet mignon (i know.. filet mignon is beef, right? but yeah, that's how they described it), horacio devoured it. i tried it, it was good but a little too cheesy for me (and if you know me, you know how i am with cheese). we had apples in rum flambe with vanilla ice cream and cafe veniero. i was so surprised when it came with a candle... horacio was so slick in telling the server about this.
one of the greatest thing that night was the service. our experience at iguana? total opposite. the food came out on time, he made sure that everything was ok. to think of it... there was only one server for that night. although it was a quarter of iguana's place, still. we had like at least four servers at iguana, and we had to ask for our water!
i highly recommend anyone to dine at au coin du feu. although they are moving to a bigger place and would be changing the menu a bit. after hearing people inquiring about the move and how much they would recommend clients to this place and these people actually have been there a couple of times! it was very personal and really, really great experience.
when dinner was over, we walked around broadway. the weather was so perfect, it was not too chilly nor too warm, it was just perfect for walking around.
it was the perfect night with the greatest boyfriend.
i'm so happy.

more gifts...

i would like to thank the following for the gifts:

mary ann - for the coffee mug wherein i can create my own design for it and the coffee bean from starbucks. it would really come in handy, especially this upcoming cold winter days!

marleni - for the nice hoodie and shirt.. i really like it!

nesty - for the lavender scented candle! i love scented candles!!!

juanes and matt - for the sephora gift card. now, i have to decide whether to get a perfume or make up... hmm.. toughie! :)

Iguana Restaurant and Lounge

ok, i'm really not going to promote this place. let me just say we were disappointed with the place. the reviews was promising but we don't know who really wrote the reviews. i am not going to even dwell on our dinning experience.

anyways, met up with friends from work and friends from school for dinner. haven't seen most of them since graduation, it was nice catching up with them. some left and more joined us to iguana's lounge area. drank, danced, caught up some more with friends who joined us later that night.

it was a fun night, going out again catching up with friends.

marichu, i'll be waiting for my 25th birthday when you plan to attempt to get me drunk, again. :)

thanks guys for coming out! :)

it's my boitday!!!

yep! it's official, i am now a year older. i turned 24 (feels more like 25!). i dunno why or how i got the habit of telling people my age a year older than what it's supposed to be. i really feel like i turned 24 last year. oh well..

my boitday actually started a day early, i bought the boots that i wanted from shoemania courtesy of my mother (thank you so much mom!! can't wait to wear it and for more skirts!!) on tuesday. eventhough it was pouring out and for some reason, horacio and i felt so exhausted, we went to union square to get the boots. after getting the boots, we went to havana central for a bite to eat before heading out to our kaplan review. the kaplan reviewed stretched for hours. i was starving and looking for food when we got home (my leftover from havana central wasn't too appetizing to me that time, besides my brother devoured it after him telling me that he ate already!). i went to my room and finally decided to just change into my pjs. as soon as i enter my room, i hear msic coming out from it and was about to scold my brother for using the itunes on my computer when i discovered that the music was coming from my ihome (thank you so much ahiya!! love it so much!!). then horacio stayed until it was midnight, and then for some odd reason, i couldn't stop myself from crying. i just cried so much as horacio hugged me tight. i guess i just felt so lucky, loved and happy to have such people around me. few minutes/seconds after that, my phone rang and marleni's singing voice came out from it. she just sang happy birthday and wished me all the best then hang-up, then i went back to crying.

then my brother woke me up and greeted me and brought bubbles in my bed to "greet" me a happy birthday - which she ended up sleeping on top of me. then my phone rang - a call from auntie fe, jackie and dad. jackie scolded me for being still in bed at that hour thinking that horacio was already waiting for me at school. few minutes after that my aunt called, then my mom. after a call from my mom, i finally decided to get up and start my day as well. as soon as i stepped out of the bathroom, i missed tito vic's call. few seconds after that, he called again to wish me (he wouldn't leave me voicemail! so sweet!) and confirmed his attendance for this friday's dinner/hang-out at iguana.

i get to work - it was hell. shushana, winsome and shiomara out of the office, i was alone in taking care of almost everything related to front desk duty. it was ok though, i didn't make it a reason to bring my day down. by 3:45, the office door opened to a (hot) guy bearing a bouquet of casablanca lilies, roses and two balloons and a wide grin! the clients at the front was enough to refrain myself from jumping off my seat and give him a big hug and kiss!

then we went home and rested for a couple of hours before meeting up with my brother, cousins and mom for dinner at perlas ng silangan (filipino restaurant). i know... why there, right? i don't know, i just felt like i wanted something homey and comforting, and i felt like carmine's is overrated already (since we've been going there almost everytime it's someone's b-day). it was a nice dinner with family although it was the usual filipino food. ate was there, tito vic unfortunately couldn't make it due to work, but they got me this really cute baby blue hello kitty pjs!
coming home, it was chaos. mom wanted to do so many things... criticisms about how my rooms looks like... things that i have to clean up... it was still all good. for i know without the chaos it would feel empty.
to everyone who remembered and greeted - thank you so much for remembering and for all the warm wishes and thoughts. i am really, really, really thankful for the Lord above for all of His blessings. I really feel special today... again, thank you all so much.
* just like before my birthday seems to stretch for at least a week.. so you may hear more about my birthday sprees. (lol) also, pictures to come soon... my internet, for some reason although cable, is so slow!!!

changes in me

a friend of mine told me that i am no longer a girl, i am now a woman. at first i didn't pay much attention to what she said, but then it hit me. a lot of things about me have changed. looking through old photos, i thought to myself - what was i thinking when i wore those clothes? and i actually thought i looked nice/cool at that time?!?!

lately, i have seen changes in my wardrobe as well. as we are moving into the new apartment, i look at my cabinet and i see jeans, dresses, skirts that i once thought that i would never wear. i even now own at least five two-piece swimsuit, and i remember clearly telling marichu that i would never ever wear bikinis (which in reply she told me to never say never).

now.... i'm looking at this dress at forever 21 (
leaflet tube dress) and these coats and shoes at timberland....

i absolutely am fond of the pink knives....

Wednesday, October 04, 2006

i know i'm being too much with this.. but i also would like this for my birthday (or christmas...). lol

The iHome iH5 for iPod. since we are moving to a new apartment and I would be having my own room, it would be a nice to wake up to this.

The Firm. I learned about this workout from Marichu and she said that it has great results and its fun. Since I had a gym membership and used it at least 4 times (good thing it was just a weekend membership - the cheapest) and it was just like two blocks from our place. I stuck with McDonald's exercise dvds more than anything (except for yoga, and that is really expensive). I wish and plan to stick with this one, if someone gives me this gift. :)

* more gift ideas from me coming soon... like I said, I could get these stuff either for my birthday or christmas.

Fifteen Days To Go

it seems like all i have been doing lately is countdown...

anyways, so, fifteen days to go until my BIG DAY and I am turning 24!!! I know, they say that I would soon stop counting the days until my birthday and that I would soon start dreading my age.. well, until that time comes, I am going to continue counting down and be proud and happy of my age.

for my birthday, for those people who doesn't know what to get me (like, there are a lot of you who reads my blog...). Here are my top three things that you could get me.

An iBook - I know, I am not a computer wizard like my bro... but I have been thinking that I need/want an iBook for all of my photos and I would like to be able to store my itunes with only the songs that I like (I share iTunes library with my bro).

AeroGarden - a lot of you know that I don't have a green thumb, yet love to cook (learning and improving) and since herbs go bad easily on our fridge (not still 100% good at storing them). I would like to have this. We saw this while watching HGTV - I Want That. You could view this at (click here). If you have seen something similar to this (minus dirt and all), that's fine with me. I just think this "garden" would be easier to manage, especially for someone like me.

Timberland boots: Women's Oshawa Tall Boot. I am not a big fan of Ugz, don't like how bulky it looks. I have seen this boots months ago and tried them on, it looked good on me but decided to wait. Now, the store doesn't have them anymore... they are online though! :) Either in this color or in tan. I am size 6 1/2.

Okay... if these stuff are beyond your budget, which I completely understand. The following are my other "wants".

  • Clothes - pants, shirts, blouse, dress, skirts, shorts. I would recommend you consult either my brother or Horacio, just to make sure that it is something that I would really wear.
  • DVDs - I would be providing a list of shows that I like soon.
  • Kitchenware - counting a Crockpot, stainless steel cookware, a stove top grill, some cute colored dinnerware (green, blue, white, clear).

Hope this helps! lol
